Re: Vacancy for Non-trustee Director on A.A. World Services, Inc. Board in 2016

Dear Friends,

The A.A. World Services, Inc. Board will have one non-trustee Director vacancy following the

General Service Conference in April 2016. We are searching for an appropriate individual to fill

this position and would ask that you assist in sharing this information.

In seeking applications for all vacancies in Alcoholics Anonymous, the Fellowship is committed

to creating a large applicant file of qualified persons which reflects the inclusiveness and

diversity of A.A. itself.

The Board of Trustees has requested that the A.A.W.S. Board’s recommendations be presented

to the trustees’ Committee on Nominating for review, since resumes need to be screened and

applicants interviewed by members of the A.A.W.S. Board prior to the 2016 General Service

Conference annual meeting.

We plan to review resumes in a timely fashion so that the A.A.W.S. Nominating Committee can

schedule interviews as soon as possible. We, therefore, ask that completed resumes be

submitted by Monday, February 1, 2016.

Some of the qualities most desirable in the individuals who will fill the Corporate Board Director

vacancies are:

1. Sound business or professional background in such areas as finance, management,

publishing, legal or information technology, relevant to the work of A.A. World Services,

Inc.

2. Leadership qualities and the ability to work within the committee structure and with others

in a group conscience setting.

3. A demonstrated commitment to A.A. service; however, service as a delegate is not

required.

4. A minimum of seven (7) years’ continuous sobriety in the A.A. program.

5. Availability to attend all regular meetings of the A.A. World Services Board (a total of up to

eight per year), quarterly meetings of trustees’ committees to which Corporate Board

Directors are appointed, and the General Service Conference for one week each year.

Additionally, Directors may be called upon to attend interim subcommittee or other

meetings; and, occasionally to represent A.A.W.S. at other A.A. functions. Should an

applicant be a past General Service Conference Delegate, a minimum of one year should

have elapsed since his/her rotation as a delegate before applying for one of these

positions. Therefore, Panel 64 Delegates will not be eligible for consideration for these

openings.

Enclosed is a resume form that should be completed by each applicant, who may also attach

his/her professional resume. The application should be returned to the General Service Office,

attention of Nancy D., Secretary, A.A. World Services, Inc., 475 Riverside Drive / Suite 1100,

New York, NY 10115, by Monday, February 1, 2016.

All resumes will be considered and all applicants will be advised when a candidate has been

selected by the A.A. World Services Board and reviewed by the trustees’ Committee on

Nominating.

If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact Nancy D. by telephone at

via e-mail at:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Yours in service,
